Re-homing an ex-racing Greyhound - Common Myths Surrounding Greyhounds, what to Expect Once They Get Home, Behaviour Problems Involved with Re-Homing and Training by Pennie Clayton
![]() Every year many thousands of greyhounds either retire from racing or are declared unfit to race as they are non chasers or have sustained injuries that prevent them from racing.
This webinar looks at how greyhounds are underestimated and often overlooked due to misconceptions and hopefully will explode some of the myths around them and to create a better understanding of these beautiful dogs who are seeking their "forever sofa". Pennie Clayton trains and advises on dog behaviour, coaches people to get the best from their horses, and also spends much of her time looking after her greyhounds and lurchers.

The Science Behind NOT Vaccinating Your Dog Annually by Catherine O'Driscoll
![]() In the Second of the series of Catherine's Webinars she will present to you the science behind why we should not be vaccinating annually our companion animals and the complete lack of science behind why most pet guardians still do.
In 1996, Catherine instigated the world’s first veterinary post-vaccine survey involving some 4,000 dogs. This research revealed that a high proportion of illnesses in dogs first start within three months of a vaccine event. The survey is detailed in full in ‘What Vets Don’t Tell You About Vaccines’ Catherine's subsequent book published on the subject.

Sound Sensitivity
![]() October through to New Year can be a tough time for companion animals with fireworks being readily available. This webinar is timed to coincide with that period.
It will be delivered by my colleague Jaqi Bunn of the British Veterinary Behaviour Association covering not only desensitisation and habituation but remedies such as nutraceuticals and pheromone therapy. This webinar is not to be missed and we highly recommend attendance to give you a good grounding in what options are available and for you to discuss with your clients’ vets. Most therapies have to begin a month before the fireworks period to be effective so the timing of this webinar is such that you can work with your clients and their vet to begin a treatment protocol before the fireworks begin.”

Bull Terriers their Training and Rehabilitation
![]() Staffordshire Bull Terriers have gained a rather undeserved reputation over the past few years and this wonderfully social and loyal dog has been named by the RSPCA as the number one dog handed in to rescue and re-homing shelters. It is our pleasure to have Katie Scott-Dyer deliver this webinar on the Bull terrier for you.

Earlier this year she was chosen out of many applicants for the Jean Donaldson Scholarship for 2012 to participate in Jean’s “Academy of Training and Behaviour Course” which is an under graduate level course of study which is a testament to her hard work and devotion. Katie works with all breeds of dogs but her passion is the Bull Terriers. Katie is based near Bristol and works as a Professional Trainer and Behaviourist working with all breeds but specifically with the Bull Terrier breeds. Katie runs an award winning pet sitting business and fosters dogs looking for a new home and completes the home checks to ensure the new owners go to the right dog often at her own expense. During the course of her work, Katie has successfully rehabilitated dogs that have been used in the fighting arena and currently works as the resident behaviour advisor for Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary Near Bristol.

"Understanding the Origins of Dogs - From Wolf to Woof"
![]() Many factors influence training and behaviour and thorough grounding in all things dog is essential for Professional Trainers and Behaviourists. Things Like genetics, breed disposition and unique breed characteristics all play apart. We also need to know the origins of the domestic dog as it is often cited that dogs are just domesticated wolves and this couldn’t be less helpful if it tried.
In this webinar we will look at the Origin of the Dog with a look at the science behind more recent thinking of how dogs became domesticated and subsequently man’s best friend. Which as you will see, when the evidence is looked at logically it points to a more reasonable explanation of the domestication of dogs and helps us to better understand how we can use this knowledge in Training and Behaviour Modification. This webinar will be presented by Mike Jones who is a Trainer and Behaviourist Based in the Midlands. Mike is a member of the British Veterinary Behavioural Association, a Full member of the Institute for Animal care Education, a Professional member of the Pet Professional Guild and a Member of the Society for Companion Animal Studies. Mike's special area of interest is Pariah Dogs and Live Stock Guarding breeds as these dogs give us a good insight into how early dogs evolved and became domesticated. He also is the resident Behaviour advisor for two charities, K9 Search UK which helps reunite lost pets with owners as well as find homes for long and short term shelter dogs and also for the charity NOWZAD which helps re-home stray dogs in Afghanistan. This Webinar is part sponsored by MJ First Aid Training - Home of the Canine First Responder© Course.

Winkie Spiers - "Canine Communication, What Your Dog is Telling You"
![]() Discover how to recognise and interpret what our dogs are feeling and thinking and how we can encourage them to enjoy good social interactions. Good communication and social skills are hugely important to us and our dogs and this Webinar will enable you to gain a far greater understanding.
Not to be understood can be extremely frustrating and lack of communication in any relationship may lead to misunderstanding, confusion, sadness, fear and even behaviour problems. Dogs communicate in many ways but primarily using body language. We will look at how to recognise their facial and body signals, how to understand our dogs better and how to encourage them to have good social interactions with other dogs, other species and with ourselves so that we can make life easier and more enjoyable for us all. Photos and video will be used to demonstrate points. A great opportunity to enjoy an entertaining and interesting talk and learn more about canine communication and how you can improve your relationship and day to day life with your dog, improve training and avoid potential problems.
