Winkie Spiers on Canine Communication coming to a computer near you in June 2012

After many years in the corporate world I was lucky enough to be able to change my life and follow a path that I feel passionately about – dogs! Having owned many problem free dogs in the past I changed the way that I think about dogs after getting my first ever rescue, Dennis, a large Parsons Jack Russell. I struggled to find a successful approach that seemed appropriate for both him and me. Gradually through much research and increasing involvement in the dog world I discovered more up-to-date and forward thinking methodologies. Dennis improved immensely as a direct result of my studies. I learned about how dogs communicate, what their instinctive normal behaviours are, how different the drives and instincts are of different breeds, how to look at the whole picture and not just symptoms and how with a calm, holistic, informed, kind and relaxed approach life can improve immensely for all concerned.I work professionally as a dog trainer and behaviourist and Bowen Technique therapist for both people and dogs. In addition I speak at seminars and conduct workshops in the UK and abroad on a variety of canine subjects for both professionals and members of the public.
I am a full member and current Chairwoman of Pet Dog Trainers of Europe (PDTE.org), full member of Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT.co.uk) and member of the Association of INTOdogs. My first book ‘How To Handle Living With Your Dog’ was published in 2008 by ShortStack Publishing. www.winkiespiers.com
Dennis is one of my greatest teachers and he shares this responsibility with my two lurchers, Maisie and Pete. My approach is always holistic and dog centred and my aim is to improve the lives of dogs and their owners by education and treating all dogs and owners as individuals.

Catherine O'Driscoll on the Science Behind NOT Vaccinating Your Dog Every Year and Natural Healthy Foods for Dogs

Catherine O’Driscoll has spearheaded research into the causes of canine health and ill health since forming Canine Health Concern in 1994. She is author of seminal best-selling books ‘What Vets Don’t Tell You About Vaccines’ and ‘Shock to the System’, and recipient of the Maxwell Award from the Dog Writer’s Association of America for the DVD ‘In Search of the Truth About Dogs’.
In 1996, Catherine instigated the world’s first veterinary post-vaccine survey involving some 4,000 dogs. This research revealed that a high proportion of illnesses in dogs first start within three months of a vaccine event. The survey is detailed in full in ‘What Vets Don’t Tell You About Vaccines’, available from www.dogwise.com and www.grandmalovesthedog.com.
Catherine has written for many dog publications in the UK and North America, and is a regular contributor to Dogs Naturally magazine. In 1998, her work was the subject of a prime time TV documentary, World in Action’s ‘Fatal Affection’. This programme can be viewed on the Canine Health Concern website - http://chctv.weebly.com/.
Catherine is also an EFT practitioner and animal communicator. Her latest book, ‘The Animals’ Agenda’, available from Amazon.co.uk (see also http://theanimalsagenda.weebly.com/), describes how animals have been concerned with human growth since the beginning of time.
Catherine has lectured on holistic canine healthcare, animal communicating and Emotional Freedom Technique in many countries of the world.
She runs the non-profit Canine Health Concern and the Pet Parents’ Action Group with her husband Rob Ellis. Their lives are shared with, and enriched by, Golden Retrievers Freddie and Ruby, and Georgie the Papillon. You can contact Catherine by email via Catherine@canine-health-concern.org.uk, or via her facebook page.

Myrna Shiboleth World Renowned Authority on the Canaan Dog of Israel

I have been a dog person forever, and have been working with, breeding and exhibiting dogs since 1967. I have for many years run an active and successful boarding kennel, and done grooming, training, and behaviour consultations. A few years ago, I closed the boarding kennel - lack of time and space, but still do behaviour consults and give private lessons in "how to live successfully with your dog."
I have also been a professional consultant to veterinarians on nutrition and clinical nutrition for a number of years, and have worked for some years as an animal behaviour research technician at Tel Aviv University, with dogs and with more exotic animals as well.
I write regularly for various periodicals in Israel and abroad, am a member of DWAA and WDPA, have had several books published (including "The Israel Canaan Dog", Alpine Pubs.), and lecture on a variety of subjects, including behaviour, breed development, and, of course, the Canaan. I have lectured extensively in Israel, and in England, Scotland, Finland, France, Cyprus, Kazakhstan, Germany, and the US. I now lecture as a staff member at a school for dog trainers here in Israel, and work on special projects with service dogs.
My new book "Tails of Shaar Hagai" was published in November 2008 and is a memoir of my life with dogs and other animals, which has never been boring...!
The Canaan’s have fascinated me since I first met them in 1967, and I have never been without them since then. I was personally acquainted with Prof. Menzel and studied in the last course she gave for the Israel Kennel Club for apprentice judges. She was a fascinating woman and the things I learned from her were invaluable and unforgettable. I try always to follow the criteria that she set for the breed. I am an FCI judge, licensed to award CACs and CACIBs
